Privacy Policy

The short version

Ascent keeps your workouts so you can see your progress on any device, and nothing more. There is no advertising, no third-party analytics, and nothing is sold. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app.

Who we are

Ascent is made by AR Web & Development LLC (“we”, “us”), which is responsible for the information described here. For anything in this policy, write to [email protected].

What we store

  • Your account. Your email address and password. Your password is never stored in a form anyone can read, including us. Optionally, a name, a username and a profile photo.
  • Your training. Workouts, the exercises, sets, reps and weights in them, your templates, personal records and any custom exercises you create.
  • Your settings, such as your weight unit and rest timer, and when you last used the app.

We use this only to provide the app to you, keep your account secure, and answer you when you write to us.

What we never collect

No advertising identifiers. No location. No contacts. No third-party analytics, attribution or tracking tools. No profiling. We do not sell your personal information, or share it for advertising.

Who else receives information

  • ExerciseDB (through RapidAPI)— exercise illustrations and details. When the app looks one up, it sends the name of the exercise; RapidAPI also sees your device’s IP address. No account information is sent.
  • Cloudflare — our domain and network delivery. It processes request details such as your IP address.

Your account and training data are stored on dedicated, access-controlled servers in the United States, and so are their backups. They are not passed to any other company for storage. If you use Ascent from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.

Legal basis (EEA and UK)

We use your information to provide the app you signed up for (our contract with you), for our legitimate interest in keeping it and your account secure, and to meet our legal obligations.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and training — until you delete them.
  • Backups — 30 days, then destroyed automatically.

Deleting your account

In the app, go to Profile → Delete Account. It asks for your password, and there is no grace period.

Deleting removes your login, profile, workouts, sets, templates, personal records and custom exercises straight away. Exercises you added to the shared exercise library stay, with your name removed from them, because other people’s workouts use them.

A deleted account can still exist inside our encrypted backups for up to 30 days, after which every backup that held it has been destroyed. We do not use backups to bring deleted accounts back.

Your rights

Everyone can see, correct and delete their information in the app, and ask us for a copy of it.

EEA and UK residents also have the right to restrict or object to how we use their information, to receive it in a portable format, and to complain to their local data protection authority.

California and other US state residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, to have it deleted or corrected, and to opt out of its sale, its sharing for targeted advertising, and profiling. We do none of these, and we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out request. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.

To use a right you cannot use in the app, write to [email protected] from the address on your account (or have an authorized agent do so). We will confirm it is you and respond within 30 days. If we decline, you may appeal by replying, and we will answer the appeal within 45 days.

Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted. Each account’s data is isolated from every other account. We apply industry-standard protections against unauthorised access and review them as the app changes. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will tell you, and the authorities where the law requires, without undue delay.

Children

Ascent is intended for users 17 and older and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect their information; if we learn we have, we delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for anything that materially affects what we collect or how long we keep it, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
